MITIGATION that matters

Behind every case is a human being shaped by life experiences, challenges, and circumstances that often go unnoticed in the legal system.

Mitigation specialists work with clients to develop comprehensive social histories that help courts better understand the context surrounding a case. These reports can highlight factors such as trauma, mental health needs, family history, and systemic barriers.

By bringing these stories to light, mitigation advocacy helps ensure that individuals are seen as more than the charges they face. In many instances, mitigation advocacy has helped secure improved plea agreements, sentencing outcomes that avoid incarceration, and opportunities for individuals to remain connected to their families and communities.
