Ashante Collins
Ashante Collins is the Executive Director of the Campaign for Criminal Justice Transparency (CCJT). Collins earned an Associate of Arts degree with honors from Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC), followed by a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Legal Studies and African and African American Studies from Western Michigan University (WMU).
Collins currently serves as the Anti-Racism Task Force Lead at Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy and Action in the Community (ISAAC). Collins works to confront racism, address inequities within legal systems, and challenge structural barriers that have historically limited access, opportunity, and support for individuals of color, people living in poverty, and other marginalized groups.
Collins has volunteered with numerous organizations throughout Kalamazoo County, including NAACP-MKB, El Concilio, the YMCA as a volunteer coach, the VFW, and others. Her vision for Kalamazoo aligns closely with CCJT’s mission to bridge gaps between community members and systems, strengthen communication, and advocate for community-driven change within the criminal legal system. Collins believes that when advocacy is rooted in transparency and community voice, meaningful change is not only possible, but sustainable and transformative for the community she calls home.
